MAYA Adjustable coil stop for extreme tournament play

This is a specialist part designed for those who want to fine-tune gameplay difficulty in a thoughtful, targeted way—in addition to the usual tricks like opening outlanes or stripping rubbers. Intended primarily for tournament directors, this adjustable coil stop provides a unique method for subtly but effectively increasing challenge by altering the flipper’s end-of-stroke point.

The concept for this part was born while servicing a Jack•Bot machine, where replacing a worn coil stops caused the game to play noticeably harder without becoming unfair. Flipper control was still achievable, but player timing had to be spot-on. This product captures that same nuance and makes it adjustable.

The body is manufactured from stainless steel, providing both durability and visual consistency with high-end assemblies. The stop itself is a bolt. A specific high-tensile steel alloy, chosen not just for its strength but also for its magnetic responsiveness—important for interaction with the operation of the solenoid. The bolt tip is ground and polished to provide maximum surface contact with the coil plunger at the end-of-stroke. The bolt is held firmly in place using a stainless steel grub screw, and all threads are machined to tight tolerances to eliminate unwanted play.

The base features sliding rail mounts, allowing compatibility with both Bally/Williams and Stern coil stop footprints. Because of the additional material mass required to secure the bolt, Stern machines will need to use the included Williams-style cap-head bolts and locking washers. These share the same thread pitch and fitment, but their smaller heads provide the necessary clearance—standard Stern bolts are too large in diameter for this housing.

This coil stop has been field-tested in tournament conditions. If you’ve played a game at a PinHaus tournament in the UK, there’s a good chance you’ve already experienced its subtle effects without even realising it.

⚠️ Important Installation Notes:

• Proper torque must be applied to all fasteners to avoid loosening during play. It is an extremely rigid part with no damping like a conventional stop. Fastenings in the vicinity must be correctly torqued. 

• The sliding mount must be carefully aligned to prevent any binding of the coil plunger rod.

• The end-of-stroke switch will require adjustment, as this product is specifically intended to alter the flipper’s mechanical travel.

This is not a casual part—it’s a tool for shaping the feel and flow of a game. Applied correctly, it gives you a new level of control over how your machines play. This part is made in small labour intensive batches, and is only available on request.
