Cobra

A vertically photographed, well-used electro-mechanical playfield (glass on) painted in a loud comic-book style. The upper third is a receding one-point-perspective city street canyon: tall flat-faced buildings in ochre, tan, teal and blue with rows of black windows, a pale steel viaduct/bridge crossing the top centre, and a dark blue skyline backdrop. A red neon script sign reading NUKE glows at upper right beside a large printed disc showing a city skyline, and the whole top is dominated by two big translucent purple plastic ramps/lanes that arc down from the upper corners. The middle of the field is a wall of red and brown brick rubble with a huge orange-and-yellow fireball/explosion swirl painted over it, plus comic-style impact bursts. The lower playfield is bordered by a red-and-yellow band and carries an arc of round black-and-yellow bumpers under a BONUS MULTIPLIER legend, two flippers with white rubber, and a metal ball-shooter lane along the left wall. Colours are dominated by purple, orange, yellow and red. Two manufacturer labels and an INSTRUCTION card are stuck to the bottom apron.

A backglass built around a big green-rimmed oval window. Across the top sits the word COBRA in enormous italic block letters, chrome-silver outlined in yellow and orange with a red drop shadow, the O filled with a crosshatched mesh pattern; a horizontal band of tiny white stars on teal runs behind it. Inside the oval, a huge rearing cobra with a yellow-and-orange belly, red and black blotched scales and raised flared hood rears up in front of a night city skyline of black towers speckled with yellow lit windows. Two silhouetted armed figures stand at lower left aiming upwards out of orange and pink flame; at lower right a dark soldier silhouette with a rifle faces left against green-yellow sky, beside a red flag. Small red lightning zigzags along the oval's lower edge. Below the art is a purple-magenta control panel strip: two stacked red seven-segment score windows at left, a white-lined oval containing eight numbered target positions, a small circular medallion, and the name COBRA repeated in white-and-yellow at bottom right. Player numbers 1, 2, 3 and 4 in white roundels mark the four score rows.

A backglass dominated by one enormous rearing cobra, its hood flared wide and mouth open showing fangs, body painted in orange and yellow scales with a green back and a green tail coiled in three flat loops across the lower half. The snake is framed inside a large oval ring of magenta, teal and cream bands, set against a deep blue-purple night sky scattered with white stars. Behind the cobra is a futuristic city of dark blue skyscrapers whose windows glow in dense grids of white, yellow and pale blue squares; a bright white star flare sits just right of the snake's hood. The word COBRA spans the top in huge italic block capitals with a chrome-silver face, yellow-to-orange gradient sides and a black drop shadow, laid over a horizontal banner of light blue filled with rows of small white stars. Below the title the sky fades through magenta and pink into a teal band at the foot of the oval. In the bottom left corner two black silhouetted armed men, one striding left with a pistol raised and a smaller one behind, and in the bottom right corner two more black silhouetted men carrying long guns, all rimmed with pale blue glow.
