Full description

A beach-themed pinball backglass in flat 1950s-60s cartoon style. Sky-blue background with a huge red beach ball filling the lower centre, ringed by a fan of white and blue playing cards along the bottom edge. Two grinning figures hang from ropes and rigging: a tanned woman in a red polka-dot swimsuit and matching flowered sunhat, arms stretched upward gripping a rope, one leg kicked high; and below her a laughing dark-haired man in a white singlet, green swim trunks and a red neckerchief, one arm flung up. Left side carries two black, gold-outlined, pennant-shaped score panels reading 1ST PLAYER and 2ND PLAYER, with white score windows below showing 8 8 4 and 0 0 0 0. Upper centre-right holds the title: red script Chicago Coin's above tall block capitals BIG FLIPPER in pale yellow-green with dark outline and shadow. Right side has rope-and-ladder rigging, a small green sign reading 1 OF 2 CAN PLAY, a yellow slanted tag reading IT'S FUN TO COMPETE, and a heap of red-and-white beach balls. Condition: photographed through glass with a white painted border, surface scratches and a bright reflection across the top.

Backglass Cowboy

  • lime-green
  • peach-salmon
  • red
  • pale-blue

Fingerprint: goooby, male centaur archer with bare chest and red neckerchief rearing over pale blue clouds, lower body pale blue horse with red saddle blanket and purple quiver dominating center, deliberately scrambled red bulbous title with white speckled highlights and heavy purple drop shadow, four player score panels arranged 2x2 around title, red-haired cowboy bottom left in enormous pale-blue sombrero pointing, lanky white-hatted lasso-swinger right, lime-green peach yellow sunburst

Distinctive

The centrepiece is a bare-chested male centaur archer, human torso merging into a pale blue horse body with a red saddle blanket and purple quiver, rearing through a burst of pale blue clouds. The title lettering is enormously inflated and rounded, red with white speckled dots inside each letter and a thick purple drop shadow over a purple pointed shield. Two cowboys bracket the scene asymmetrically - a red-haired figure in an oversized pale-blue sombrero pointing from the bottom-left corner, and a white-hatted lasso-swinger on the right. Four separate player score panels (1st through 4th PLAYER) are split around the title in a 2x2 arrangement, unusual for a single-title game. The whole scene is flat comic-book colour on a lime-yellow and peach sunburst.

Setting

  • Radiating sunburst of alternating lime-green and pale-yellow wedges
  • Peach-salmon sky
  • Wide blue horizontal band across mid-height
  • Pale blue-white billowing clouds along the bottom

Full description

Flat, brightly coloured cartoon backglass in a comic-strip style, framed by a worn cream-white wooden border with chipped paint and scuffed lower edge. The background is a radiating sunburst of alternating lime-green and pale yellow wedges over a peach-salmon sky, with a wide blue horizontal band across the middle and small tufts of green grass along the bottom. Centred at the top is a large bulbous red title with white speckled highlights and a heavy purple drop shadow, sitting over a purple pointed shield shape; above it a cursive script line in green-black ink. Four black score panels with cream number windows are arranged around the title: 1st PLAYER upper left, 2nd PLAYER upper right, 3rd PLAYER middle left, 4TH PLAYER middle right. A male centaur archer dominates the centre - bare-chested with a red neckerchief, black hair, blue-white lower body, red saddle blanket, purple quiver and bow - rearing over pale blue-white clouds. A red-haired cowboy in a huge pale-blue wide-brimmed hat and red poncho points from the bottom left, and a lanky cowboy in a white hat, pale shirt and blue jeans swings a lasso on the right.
