Dr. Dude And His Excellent Ray

A single-level electro-mechanical playfield seen under glass in a dark cabinet, lit from within by red, green and yellow lamps. The art is a hot-rodding/car-chase theme in garish 1970s airbrushed comic style: a huge yellow-orange sunburst disc fills the lower half, ringed with red and yellow lightning bolts, against a cream and orange background. Two large circular pop-bumper caps in the mid-playfield read SPECIAL and CAUTION with WARNING EYE beneath. A vertical chain of five red-glowing rectangular inserts runs down the centre over an arched brick tunnel, labelled SUPER DUDE, QUARTER, CENTAURO, and lower down GOLDIE. On the left sit a cartoon man's head in a cap with a speech balloon reading IT WORKS, BILL, and another goggled driver with IT HELPS, ME!; on the right a matching pair with NOT SO HOT! and WITH A LITTLE HELP. Lower right is a pale-faced driver in a helmet with a BURN OUT! balloon and a shell-shaped BANDSTAND insert. At the bottom centre the title DROME appears in heavy orange-and-brown angular 3-D block letters. The apron carries two cream instruction cards with dense black print, an oval cut-out handle, and a FOR AMUSEMENT ONLY panel.

A comic-book parody backglass on a background of blue-and-white radiating sunburst stripes. The centre is dominated by a huge three-dimensional title logo: small red script above giant red block letters with heavy black outline and yellow drop shadow, sitting on a red banner where the X is a jagged red burst. Below stand two large figures: a grinning cartoon man with an enormous orange quiff, orange sunglasses and a white glove pointing accusingly outward, a leopard-skin-print shirt open over a bare chest, gold ID tag and stethoscope; and a blonde woman in a short white nurse's dress with a white cap bearing a red cross, one hand on her hip. A leopard crouches behind her and a speech bubble reads 'SAY AHH-SOME!'. Four numbered comic panels with yellow caption boxes surround them, showing a masked hero, a man strapped to a futuristic operating console with a giant grinning set of teeth, a green-skinned scientist at a lab bench, and an orange-haired hero raising both arms. A black bottom band carries red score digits.
