Distinctive

The centrepiece is a red-maned green dragon with a long serpentine body that curls under a blonde woman in a gold tiara, while a horned barbarian in winged shoulder-guards stands behind them holding a sword. Only three human/creature figures share the composition, yet the dragon's coiling body weaves across almost the entire lower half. Flanking them, a black horse rears under a red caparison at the left against a full yellow moon. Four numbered score discs (1, 2, 3, 4) run down the inner left and right borders, each beside a rectangular score window.

Full description

A painted fantasy-adventure backglass inside a wide gold frame with a mirror-silver inner bevel. The upper third is dominated by a curved red-and-yellow flame-edged serif logo reading LOST WORLD, with a pale mint-green cursive maker word to its left. The centre shows a horned, muscular, bare-chested barbarian man with a blond moustache and winged green-goblin shoulders, gripping a sword hilt, embracing a blonde woman in a gold tiara and orange-yellow drape who sits astride a rearing green dragon. A second black horse with a red blanket rears at the left. Behind them are a yellow moon, floating rocks, a stepped stone temple, mist and grey crags. Two rows of four score windows with round black-and-red numbered discs (1 to 4) flank the figures, and a small red seven-segment window at right reads 40 50. The bottom border carries a horned demon head, two winged gargoyle faces flanking banner scrolls, and dice-like roundels. Dominant colours are gold, red, green and black.

Second is the pair of central figures — a bare-chested, bearded, muscular man with arms flung wide and a red-haired woman in a white-and-red corset with a red cloak, posed like an adventurer and his heroine. Third, the title LOST WORLD in arched, bevelled crimson-and-gold slab capitals on a deep violet banner with a small blue cursive signature. Fourth, the lavish gilded carved-stone border with columns and bat-wing ornaments enclosing the whole scene.

Full description

A backglass with an ornate, rococo-style border of gilded carved stonework — columns, scrolls, gargoyle or bat-wing ornaments and a face-like mask at the top centre — framing a dark fantasy-adventure scene. At the top, arched crimson-and-gold block letters spell LOST WORLD on a deep navy-purple field, with a pale blue cursive artist signature at the left of the title. Centre stage: a bare-chested muscular man with a dark beard and headband, arms spread wide, standing behind and above a fair-skinned red-haired woman in a low-cut white-and-red corset dress with a red cloak, her hand on his hip, both looking out at the player. Below and left of them a huge green-scaled crocodile or dragon head lunges leftward out of the water with jaws open, and a huge scaled serpent body coils around the right side of the woman. At the left a dark-skinned figure in a red cloak stands in profile beside a glowing orange-yellow sun or lamp orb, with a small white full moon lower left. Four blue-backed rectangular score windows with red digits are set in the artwork — two under the title, one mid-right, one lower-right. Bottom centre shows blue-white water with a small dark figure or creature rising from it. Dominant colours: gold, crimson red, deep purple/navy, dark green. Airbrushed fantasy realism, glossy varnished.
