Fingerprint: "THE PINBALL CIRCUIT": pure ornament panel, no figures, gold fleur-de-lis over each letter of CIRCUIT, red-to-blue gradient letterforms, symmetrical gold rococo scrollwork top and bottom

Distinctive

The whole piece is one single gigantic word, CIRCUIT, whose seven red-to-blue gradient serif letters fill the panel edge to edge, each letter stuffed with a gold fleur-de-lis and white scrollwork. Above it the smaller red THE PINBALL with a yellow dot inside every letter, flanked by a huge decorative C on the left and a matching S on the right whose bowl is dotted with gold circles like a billiard ball. The signature detail is the French-fleur-de-lis-and-filigree gold ornamentation, which is Victorian saloon rather than space-age, set on a black field between two crimson bands.

Full description

A wide, short backglass header/logo panel with no figures at all - pure ornament and lettering. Two horizontal crimson-red bands run along the very top and very bottom edges, sandwiching a large dark chocolate-brown to black central field. Across the top of the dark field sits a symmetrical gold filigree ornament: a central spear-point leaf with two mirrored acanthus scrolls curling outward into tapering flourishes, flanked by short gold rules that thin as they reach the side edges. Centred below it, in medium-sized red slab-serif capitals with a thin black outline, is the line THE PINBALL, each letter studded with a single small yellow dot on its face. Filling almost the whole panel beneath is the single enormous word CIRCUIT, in heavy serif capitals with a thick white outline; the letter bodies are filled with a striped gradient that runs red at the top through to royal blue at the bottom, and each of the seven letters is overlaid with a gold fleur-de-lis over white scrollwork on its lower half. A second gold scroll-and-leaf ornament sits at bottom centre above the maker wordmark. Bottom right, tiny dark print on the red band reads a copyright line with the year 1993. A large blown-out white reflection or glare patch sits on the lower left red band.
