The most memorable element is the multicoloured slanted block title SHANGHAI, every letter a different colour with a black outline and white drop shadow, sitting on a white cloud with the white cursive subtitle Chinese Girl above it. A second strong feature is the arc of pink and white blossom rosettes across the very top of the blue sky. Two cheongsam-clad Asian women frame a bright pink three-tiered pagoda: a seated one cross-legged on a pink-and-yellow fan mat at lower left, and a standing one in a gold and pink dress at the right edge. A tall left-hand ladder of coloured score ovals running from 70,000 down to 10,000 is unusual for a backglass.
