Playfield

Fingerprint: Checkerboard carnival field with cream teardrop guides numbered 4-5 forming dramatic V around teal cap. Eyeballs with red pupils flank special panel, two purple gear-shaped bonus rosettes below, no characters at all. Teal background, red-white-checkerboard and sunburst geometry.

Distinctive

The single most memorable feature is the pair of enormous cream teardrop or petal-shaped lane guides in the middle of the playfield, each printed with a large blue 4 and 5 and backed by a black arrow repeating the same numeral, forming a dramatic V around a round teal cap. Second, the whole field is a red-and-white checkerboard ribbon laid over flat sea-green, giving a bold chequered circus look with no character art at all. Third, the recurring motif of disembodied white cartoon eyeballs with red pupils, which appear as a pair flanking the arched SPECIAL WHEN LIT panel at the top and again as a tiny pair on the small yellow 5000 banner midway down. Fourth, two purple gear-shaped rosettes stacked in the lower half, one numbered 2-12 and one numbered 10-100 in tens, the second centred on a big maroon disc ringed by the words BONUS SCORE and THOUSANDS. Fifth, yellow ribbon banners everywhere carrying advance-bonus instructions such as 1 ADVANCE BONUS, 2 ADVANCE BONUS and 5000 L ADVANCE BONUS WHEN LIT.

Kind Description
Creature Two disembodied white cartoon eyeballs with red pupils and black brows, set either side of the arched special when lit panel at the top of the playfield

Full description

A full-view photograph of a wood-framed cabinet playfield under glass, dominated by a sea-green/turquoise background with a wide red-and-white checkerboard band running down the centre and down each side. Nothing is figurative: there are no people or characters, only graphics, lettering and hardware. At the top an arched red panel reads SPECIAL WHEN LIT in white, flanked by two white cartoon eyeballs with red pupils. Below it a round yellow-and-red housing sits between two yellow ribbon banners, under a big yellow scalloped sunburst carrying 50,000 in red. Two cream-and-gold mushroom caps reading 5000 WHEN LIT sit either side, with red ovals 1 ADVANCE BONUS and 2 ADVANCE BONUS. The middle is dominated by two enormous cream teardrop-shaped lane guides marked with blue 4 and 5, angled inward to form a V, each backed by a dark navy arrow also numbered 4 and 5, and a round teal plastic cap between them. Lower down, a purple flower-shaped rosette ringed with white discs numbered 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 reads SPECIAL SCORE WHEN LIT around a red BONUS SCORE inner ring, and a second purple rosette carries cream discs 10 through 100 in tens around a large maroon disc, lettered BONUS SCORE and THOUSANDS. Chrome wire guides, posts with red caps, and a black apron with four chrome lamp rings complete the lower end. Paint is glossy with visible glass reflections and cabinet scuffs.

Full description

A landscape-format backglass dominated by a colossal roaring gorilla filling the centre, drawn in a glossy comic-book/airbrushed style. The gorilla has dark brown-black fur, a pale grey chest and belly, bared white fangs, flared nostrils and wide bloodshot eyes; it wears a dark blue-grey riveted harness or bandolier strap across its chest. Its left arm is raised high to the right, gripping the strut of a small biplane, while its right arm reaches up and left to seize a second aircraft by its nose. Around it fly five aircraft: two vintage biplanes with orange wings at the top left and top right, a yellow-hulled helicopter at mid-right with a small dark-haired pilot figure visible in the open cockpit, a sleek blue-and-white rocket plane at the lower right, and another biplane at the lower left foreground. The background is a burning orange-and-yellow sunset sky with purple and magenta smoke clouds, over a dark blue-violet city skyline of skyscraper blocks with scattered lit yellow windows. Across the lower centre sits a curved red banner carrying the title in heavy yellow-orange capitals with black shading, above a red-and-white subtitle bar. Small white copyright print sits at the lower left and a red-and-white pinball logo at the lower right.
