Full description

A wide, symmetrical electro-mechanical playfield dominated by a hot yellow/gold background with green, magenta, cyan and black geometric arrow and triangle panels. At the top centre is a row of six numbered rollovers, 1 to 6, each set in its own coloured arrow/banner shape (pink 1, cyan 2, magenta 3, cyan 4, magenta 5, dark 6). Below them, stacked lettering reads HORSES RUN FASTER WHEN LIT, WINNER TARGET, SCORES 5000. A large dark rectangular window with a fine grid occupies the centre, flanked by pink and cyan lightning-bolt stripes. Four white target pucks marked A, C (upper) and B, D (lower) sit on green star/arrow motifs, each with printed value text such as 50 WHEN LIT and 60 WHEN LIT, plus LITES A-B and LITES C-D markers. Illustrated horses and cowboys appear on the side plastics and lower left/right panels with 1000 printed beside them. A red arrow and gold star sit at the bottom centre, flanked by pink FLIPPER BUTTON lettering and two white instruction cards. The red-painted apron carries a chrome diamond bolt.

Fingerprint: "WINNER": rearing brown horse with pink-spotted jockey in white suit, woman in plumed wide-brimmed hat with crop, scalloped pink-and-white awnings labeled "1 UP" and "2 UP", green horseshoe panels

Distinctive

The artwork pairs a horse-racing parlour board with a fairground midway look: two competing score panels, one under a '1 UP' box and one under '2 UP', each framed by its own striped awning. The central rearing horse, ridden by a jester-ish jockey in a pink-spotted white suit, is balanced by a woman in a plumed wide-brimmed hat who looks out towards the viewer. Six coloured numerals, one per player, run in a band beneath the title in pink, orange, pale blue, gold, green and yellow. The pink vertical '1 or 2' lozenge at top centre is an unusual decorative touch amid the racing imagery.

Setting

  • Flat graphic backdrop of tan sky over a green oval of turf
  • Fairground awnings over both score windows
  • Stylised flower spray at top centre
  • No realistic perspective or depth

Symbols

  • Stylised pink and green flower spray beside the cursive inscription
  • Scalloped striped awnings
  • Circled numeric player ovals

Lettering

  • Mixed: huge hot-pink slab-serif display capitals with black and white outlines for the title; condensed black capitals on white panels for 'selected horse'; bold green sans-serif for '1 up' and '2 up'; green casual script for 'can play'

Full description

Rectangular backglass behind glass in a black cabinet frame. A warm yellow-tan upper field sits above a vivid green oval of ground. At top centre a vertical pink lozenge reads '1 or 2' in green, beside a green cursive 'can play' backed by pink and green stylised flowers. Two black score windows sit high left and right, each under a scalloped pink-and-white awning with a sign box above: '1 UP' on the left, '2 UP' on the right. Below each is a pale blue-grey horseshoe panel reading 'SELECTED HORSE' in stacked black capitals, ringed by six numbered ovals. Centre: a rearing brown horse with a jockey in a pink-spotted white suit and pink cap, arms flung up. To the left, a woman with dark bobbed hair, a pale blue wide-brimmed hat with pink feathers, leopard-print top and pale blue skirt, holding a crop. Each lower corner holds another horse and rider. Across the lower third, 'WINNER' in enormous pink letters with black and white outlines, above a black band of six coloured numbered squares and 'BALL IN PLAY'. Condition good: glazing reflections and minor specks only.
